چکیده
Managed lanes, such as a dedicated lane for connected and automated vehicles (CAVs), can provide not only technological accommodation but also desired market incentives road users to adopt CAVs in the near future. In this paper, we investigate traffic flow characteristics with two configurations of managed across different penetration rates quantify benefits from perspectives lane-level headway distribution, fuel consumption, communication density, overall network performance. The results highlight implementing strategies CAVs: (1) A CAV significantly extends stable region speed-flow diagram yields greater capacity. As result shows, highest rate is 3400 per hour at 90% one lane. (2) concentration narrower distribution (with smaller standard deviation) even partial penetration. (3) able eliminate duel-bell-shape that caused by heterogeneous flow. (4) creates more consistent which facilitates activity decreases probability packet dropping.

Freeway Lane Management Approach In Mixed Traffic Environment with Connected Autonomous Vehicles
Connected autonomous vehicles (CAV) technologies are about to be in the market in the near future. This requires transportation facilities ready to operate in a mixed traffic environment where a portion of vehicles are CAVs and the remaining are manual vehicles. Since CAVs are able to run with less spacing and headway compared with manual vehicles or mixed traffic, allocating a number of freewa...

With the emergence of connected and automated vehicle (CAV) technologies, research on traffic flow modeling and analysis will play a very important role in improving our understanding of the fundamental characteristics of traffic flow. The frontier of studies on CAV systems have examined the impacts of CAVs on freeway bottleneck capacity, and macroscopic traffic flow, CAV B. van Arem Delft Univ...
متن کاملTowards Cooperative Motion Planning for Automated Vehicles in Mixed Traffic
While motion planning techniques for automated vehicles in a reactive and anticipatory manner are already widely presented, approaches to cooperative motion planning are still remaining. In this paper, we present an approach to enhance common motion planning algorithms, that allows for cooperation with human-driven vehicles. Unlike previous approaches, we integrate the prediction of other traff...
متن کاملTraffic Characteristics of Mixed Traffic Flow in Urban Arterials
Motorcycles are one of the main transportation modes in some Asian countries because of their advantages, such as better mobility and lower costs, as compared to automobiles. Most of the current designs of roads, such as speed limit and lane markings, are based on automobile traffic and not entirely suitable for motorcycles. Therefore, there is a need to further investigate the traffic characte...
